Titanium alloy has a low density, specific strength, high stiffness, corrosion resistance, high temperature mechanical properties, anti fatigue and creep properties are good, has a good comprehensive energy, is a new type of structural material with great development potential and application prospect. In recent years, titanium industry in the world and titanium processing technology has been rapid development, titanium sponge, deformation of titanium alloy and titanium alloy processing material production and consumption reached a high level, is more and more widely used in the field of aerospace, ships and weapons and other military manufacturing, in the car, chemical and energy industry also has a great application potential. Titanium and titanium alloys have many excellent properties, which are mainly reflected in the following aspects:

 

(1) is higher than the strength of the. Titanium alloy has very high strength, its tensile strength is 686~1 176 MPa, and the density is only about 60% of steel, so the intensity is very high.

(2) higher hardness. The hardness of titanium alloy (HRC) is 32~38.

(3) low elastic modulus. The elastic modulus of the titanium alloy (annealed state) is 1.078@105~1.176@105MPa, about half of the steel and stainless steel.

(4) high temperature and low temperature performance. At high temperature, titanium alloy can still maintain good mechanical properties, its heat resistance is much higher than that of aluminum alloy, and working temperature range is wide, at present, the new heat resistant titanium alloy working temperature can reach 550~600e; at low temperature, the strength of titanium alloy is increased, and has good toughness, low temperature titanium alloy in -253e can maintain good toughness.

(5) the corrosion resistance of titanium. Titanium in 550E under air, the surface will rapidly to form a thin and compact titanium oxide film, so in the atmosphere, water, nitric acid and sulfuric acid oxidation medium and strong, its corrosion resistance is better than most stainless steel.
